Ongoing project

Optimisation, Standardisation and Commercial Scale-Up of Sustainable Biomass Charcoal Briquettes for Clean Cooking and Circular Utilisation of Biomass Residues

Summary

This project builds on an eco-friendly charcoal briquette that has already been developed, tested and introduced to the local market. The product is manufactured from recovered charcoal dust using molasses, cassava flour and controlled amounts of clay soil, with carbonised wood dust proposed as supplementary feedstock. The project will optimise the feedstock and binder proportions, validate product quality and safety, and standardise production to improve consistency, reduce costs and support commercial scale-up.
