Development of Green Cement Geopolymer from Oil/Gas Drilling Cuttings and Rice-Husk Biosilica for Sustainable Precast Infrastructure in Uganda

Summary

Cement production is a global contributor of carbon emissions,while oil and gas drilling operations in the new discovered oil industry ,and the rice processing generate large volumes of waste with limited productive use.Drilling waste are disposed off at environmental and financial cost,and rice husks that are abundant in agricultural economies like Uganda are usually discarded or burnt.This project will develop,optimize and validate a novel green cement by combining alminosilicates rich oil/gas drilling cuttings with rice husk derived biosilica nanoparticles.The resulting geopolymer will offer a low-carbon,waste-valorizing alternative to conventional cement,suitable for both oilwell cementing and infrastructural products.
