Ongoing project

Development and Field Evaluation of Smart Urban Rainwater Harvesting Systems for Simultaneous Flood Mitigation and Water Supply in Ugandan Cities

Summary

This project will evaluate and enhance urban rainwater harvesting technologies designed to collect and retain rooftop and surface runoff for residential and non-potable applications, whilst mitigating stormwater volumes that lead to flooding. The research will assess appropriate storage configurations, water requirements, precipitation fluctuations, and possible flood-mitigation advantages to enhance climate-resilient water

provision and urban drainage systems in Ugandan municipalities.
