The Bachelor of Civil Engineering programme prepares graduates to design, construct, and manage sustainable infrastructure including buildings, roads, bridges, water supply systems, transportation networks, and environmental engineering projects.

Objectives
Overall objective: develop highly qualified civil-engineering professionals and researchers able to meet national, regional, and international labour-market needs.
Specific objectives:
- Build professional capacity in Civil and Building Services Engineering for public and private sectors.
- Provide a foundation in engineering fundamentals, applied science, mathematical computing, teamwork, projects, and management.
- Train students to comprehend, analyse, design, and create solutions for real-life problems.
- Develop professional ethics, communication, teamwork, entrepreneurship, multidisciplinary practice, and awareness of engineering's broader social context.

Learning outcomes
Graduates should be able to undertake advanced study and basic research in civil engineering; apply broad technical knowledge and soft skills in professional leadership; compete in employment and graduate study; solve problems in relevant fields; design, implement, and maintain projects using project economics and resource-valuation methods under risk and uncertainty; and use modern, especially computer-based, engineering tools.

Entry requirements
Direct entry: two Advanced Level principal passes in Mathematics and Physics obtained at the same sitting of the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education or its equivalent. Physics and Mathematics are essential; Chemistry, Economics, Geography, Technical Drawing, and Computer Studies are relevant; General Paper is desirable.
Diploma entry: at least a credit or second-class diploma in Civil Engineering or a related engineering course from an accredited tertiary institution. An accredited Higher National Diploma in Civil Engineering or a related field may also be considered.
Transfer and mature-age entry are governed by University and national guidelines. Mature-age applicants must be at least 25 years old and hold UCE or its equivalent.
