Overview
The Bachelor of Biomedical Engineering programme prepares engineers to design, develop, manage, and maintain medical technologies that improve healthcare delivery. Students receive training in medical instrumentation, clinical engineering, artificial intelligence, medical imaging, digital health, rehabilitation engineering, biomaterials, biomechanics, and healthcare technology management.

Learning outcomes
Graduates should be able to apply biology, physiology, advanced mathematics, science, and engineering at the interface of engineering and biology; design and conduct experiments; analyse and interpret data; design systems, components, or processes within realistic constraints; work in multidisciplinary teams; identify and solve engineering problems; communicate effectively; act with professional and ethical responsibility; understand the wider impact of engineering solutions; engage in lifelong learning; and use modern engineering techniques and tools.
Before you apply
Entry requirements
Direct entry: Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education with two principal passes, one in either Physics or Mathematics, two subsidiary passes in either Chemistry or Biology obtained at the same sitting, and at least a credit in Mathematics at UCE. Physics and Mathematics are essential subjects; Technical Drawing, Biology, and Chemistry are relevant subjects; General Paper and Subsidiary Mathematics are desirable.
Diploma entry: a Diploma in Engineering, a relevant Medical Technology such as Radiography, Laboratory Technology, Orthopedic Technology, or ENT Clinical practice, or another diploma approved by the University as equivalent.
